On June 22nd 2022, the Living Schoolyards Coalition (LSYC) hosted their first convening at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles to discuss topics around school greening.

“Hi, my name is Roxana, my three kids attended LAUSD schools, here in South Central LA. The school they attended was just a parking lot; that’s where they would play, that’s where they would do everything.
I’m here because I want the board members to take action to green school campuses and make them accessible to the community.
My kids suffer from asthma and a school with a green campus, or with more shade, would have benefitted them more.
It’s not fair that our (LA) students, present-day, still do not have access to green patios, shade, or commodities that other communities have.”
